Chapter 145: A new town and new encounters

{Tl: By Creed}

Clatter, clatter—the wheels of the carriage rattled.

Along with it, a faint vibration was transmitted to me.

It was a very boring time.
But now, that time is over.

“Wow!”

As I stepped down from the carriage, a scene I had never seen before spread out before me.

It was a very beautiful town, filled with lots of greenery and flowers.

“This is...”

“Yes, Fate,”

“This is the town where we’ll be living from today,” my father and mother said, patting me on the head.

Both of them were smiling. Maybe they were looking forward to our new life as much as I was.

I felt the same way...

“Dad! Mom! Can I go explore the town?”

“Hmm... I understand how you feel, but I’m worried you might get lost.”

“Fate, do you know the way?”

“Yeah. Our new house is next to the flower shop near the park, right?”

“You’ve already remembered? Hehe, Fate, you’re so smart.”

“Well, then I guess there’s no need to worry. But if you do get lost, show this to an adult. It has the location of our house, so they can help you find your way.”

“Okay. Thanks, Dad.”

I took the map from Dad and put it in my pocket.
And with that, I began my exploration of the new town.

――――――――――

The name of this town is Snowlake.

A town wrapped in snow.

"Wow, amazing! This is snow!"

As I walk, I feel the crunch beneath my feet. It's a sensation I've never experienced before—my first time.

When I scoop up the snow with my hands, it feels really cold. If I keep holding it, it starts to tingle, sending a prickling sensation through my skin.

“Whoa.”

This is snow. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

“I bet a lot of good things are going to happen!”

Seeing snow for the first time fills me with energy. I feel like I could run around the entire town.

Actually, maybe I should try running? I have so much energy I just want to move my body.

“Alright, here I go...!”

I dashed forward with all my might...

“Whoa!?”

The ground was icy, and I slipped.

Since I was running, I had a lot of momentum...

Oh no!

I instinctively closed my eyes.

"...Huh?"

But the impact never came. Instead, I felt a soft, cushiony sensation.

“Um… are you alright?”

Cautiously, I opened my eyes…

I had been caught by a girl.

No, wait.

Was she really a girl?

She looked almost like a fairy.

Her transparent, shimmering hair sparkled like snow. Her skin was so white, she looked like a doll.

“...”
“Hello?”

“Huh!?”

Her voice snapped me out of my daze.

I was shocked. The girl was so beautiful...

So incredibly beautiful that my mind went blank.

My heart was racing, but... what was this feeling?

“Are you okay?”

“Oh… y-yeah! I’m fine. Thank you for helping me.”

“You’re welcome. But unless you’re in a hurry, it’s better not to run. The ground is frozen in some spots.”

“Yeah, you’re right... Sorry about that.”

“Hehe, no need to apologize to me.”

“Oh, right. I guess so. It just slipped out.”

For some reason, it struck me as funny, and I started laughing. The girl joined in, giggling softly.

“...”
“Why are you staring at me?”

“Oh, um, nothing! It’s nothing.”

I didn’t really understand, but...
I couldn’t take my eyes off the smiling girl. What was it about her?

“By the way... I don’t think I’ve seen you around before. Where are you from?”

“I moved here today! My mom and dad are at home, and I thought I’d explore the town.”

“I see... Would you like to be friends with me?”

“Yeah, of course!”

We smiled and shook hands.

“My name’s Fate! Fate Stuart.”

“I’m Sofia Ascart. It’s nice to meet you.”

“Y-yeah! Nice to meet you too.”

...This is how I met Sofia.

One of my most cherished memories, something I’ll never forget.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so

Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious

Chapter 2 childhood friend {TL: By Creed} That was ten years ago. I had a childhood friend who was the same age as me. Her name was Sofia Ascarth. Sofia and I played together every day, and we were so close that we were always together. Every day was so much fun... Filled with smiles. I believed that this happiness would last forever back then, but... Our parting came suddenly. ―――――――――― "I'm sorry... I can't meet Fate anymore." When I tried to play as usual, Sofia had a look on the verge of tears. Did she have a fight with her parents? When I asked what was going on, that was the answer. "Huh? W-what do you mean? You can't meet me anymore..." "Due to my dad's job, we're moving to the capital. So... today will be the last time I can play with Fate." "That's... " It felt like the ground beneath me crumbled and I was falling... Such a terrible shock. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...
