My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 231 Thank you

{TL: By Creed}

"Ah-uu?"

"Yes, yes~ There, there."

"Kyah kyah!"

In the Stuart family living room, Sofia was holding the youngest child, Lutecia.

She was used to it by now, holding Lutecia securely in her arms.
Lutecia seemed comfortable and happy, smiling and reaching her tiny hands toward Sofia.

"Oh my, looks like little Lutecia has taken a liking to you, Sofia."

"Hehe, if that's true, then I'm happy."

The only ones in the living room were Sofia, Amira, and Lutecia.
The others were off preparing to repair their swords.

Sofia could have helped with that too, but...

More than that, she was concerned about Amira, who had to handle the housework while caring for a small child by herself, so she decided to look after Lutecia instead.

Amira, having just finished washing the dishes, wiped her hands and sat down beside Sofia.

"Thank you. You really saved me, Sofia."

"I'm just glad I could help."

Sofia smiled warmly.
But behind that smile, she was actually full of nervousness.

Some time had passed since she arrived in Snowlake...

But aside from Fate, she had never really talked with Edge or Amira alone.

Fate had always been with her,
So she had never felt particularly nervous and was able to interact naturally.

But now it was just the two of them.

Would she say something inappropriate?
Would she be disliked?

Sofia's nerves were like someone about to ask, “Please let me marry your son!”
She was very, very tense.

"Auu~"

As if to ease her anxiety, Lutecia reached out and touched her.
The tiny fingers were so warm that Sofia couldn't help but smile naturally.

"Hehe, she's so cute."

"So, Sofia, do you plan on having a baby?"

"Eh?"

"Aren’t you going to have a child with Fate?"

"......Ehh!?"

With a loud pop, Sofia’s face turned red all the way to her ears.

Then, realizing how loudly she had reacted, she quickly looked at Lutecia in a panic.
But Lutecia didn’t seem surprised at all and was still smiling contentedly.

"Phew…"

"What’s the matter? Why are you so surprised?"

"W-Well, that kind of question out of the blue is just…"

"Oh? But you two are dating, right?"

"…Yes."

"And you’re planning to get married?"

"…Y-Yes."

"Then there’s no problem, is there?"

Is that really how it works?

Though Sofia had mastered the sword, when it came to romance, she was a complete novice.
She couldn’t tell whether Amira was right or not, and ended up making a complicated expression.

"You need to have sex to make a baby, of course, but that’s nothing to be embarrassed about, you know?"

"I-Is that so…?"

"Yes, it is. It’s a very important act—you’re making a child with someone you care about deeply. Even aside from that, it’s a chance to really feel the warmth of the person you love. Don’t you think that’s important too?"

"…Yes, I suppose so."

Sofia imagined herself doing such things with Fate.

Her face turned red again.

Though Sofia understood it logically, her emotions still hadn’t caught up.

Seeing this, Amira quietly thought that it might still be a while before she would get to see her grandchild’s face.

“By the way… Sofia, thank you.”

“Huh?”

Sofia was a bit taken aback by the sudden words of gratitude.

“Um… what for?”

“You helped Fate, didn’t you?”

“…You knew?”

“No, I don’t know the details. But somehow I guessed that Fate was in trouble. The regular letters stopped coming, and through rumors, I learned those adventurers were terrible people… But we couldn’t do anything. Even if we wanted to help, we didn’t have the power.”

Amira spoke with deep regret.
As a mother, she must have felt truly sorry for not being able to protect her child.

“But one day, the letters started coming again. And they mentioned you, Sofia… Yes, just by reading the letters I understood. That child was saved by you, and is now living fulfilling days.”

Amira gently bowed her head.

“So, thank you very much.”

“Oh, no, it’s nothing like that.”

Sofia flustered.

“I didn’t do anything significant. It’s not that I saved Fate or anything… Fate managed to handle the situation on their own. I just gave a little support from behind.”

“Still, if you hadn’t been there, I don’t know what would have happened. So please, let me thank you properly.”

“Um…”

Sofia’s gaze wandered as if unsure what to do next…
After a moment, she looked at Amira.

Her face was dignified, yet kind.

“You’re welcome.”

But it didn’t end there.

“And thank you as well.”

“Sofia?”

“I’ve also been helped by Fate many times… so, thank you. It might be strange to say this to you, Amira, but right now I just feel like saying it… thank you.”

“Hehe, you’re welcome.”

Sofia and Amira smiled at each other.

Perhaps soothed by their gentle atmosphere, Lutecia began to breathe softly and peacefully, drifting off to sleep.

TL Note: A thanking chapter.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 3 Escape from the current situation and reunion {TL By: Creed} "What's going on, you incompetent fool!!!" "Guah!?" Sigurd's angry voice was hurled at me, and then I was struck again. I was thrown to the floor. This place was an inn and dining hall, so there were other customers present. However, Sigurd had a notorious reputation as a rough adventurer, and nobody wanted to get involved. Naturally, they pretended not to notice me. However... Being a slave, even if someone with good intentions were to stand up for me, they couldn't help me. How slaves were treated was entirely up to their master. There were no human rights. "You dropped the loot we worked so hard to get, didn't you? Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing? How much do you think today's earnings have decreased because of you?" "I'm sorry... Ugh!?" I was kicked hard in the abdomen. It was a powerful blow that lifted me off the ground. It hurt. I cu...
