My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman.

Chapter 29 I would rather lose

{TL: By Creed}

The situation was forced upon Lector, giving Sigurd the opportunity to escape.

As an attacker, his stamina should be more than sufficient.

There's a possibility he has already left the town.

However, I was considering another possibility.

Sigurd is extremely prideful, almost pathologically so.

Would someone like him stay silent after being attacked continuously?

If Sofia were with me, he probably wouldn't dare to lay a hand on me...

But if I'm alone? A slave, considered useless by him?

That expectation turned out to be accurate.

To prevent the invasion of monsters and beasts, the town is surrounded by walls, with entrances to the east, west, south, and north.

However, there are emergency exits that are not usually used, prepared for events like major disasters.

Moving there...

"Hey!!!"
"!"

Sigurd leaped out from the shadows and attacked without warning, attempting to cut me in half with his huge sword.

But I had anticipated that.

"Hu!"
"What!?"

I scooped up his sword from below, causing the blade to strike Sigurd's sword.

Giiiiin!

The sound was like shattering dozens of pieces of glass.

Sigurd's sword snapped in half from the middle.

On the other hand, my sword remained intact.

I had heard it was sturdy, but not to this extent. Once again, I felt grateful to Sofia for lending me this sword.

"Damn it, why... Why are you blocking my attacks? It's impossible. You're just a useless fool. Why, why, why...!!!"
"I won in a mock battle against Sigurd, didn't I?"

I could say that calmly.

I used to be afraid of him before, not because I feared his strength. It was because, after years of being mistreated as a slave, it was difficult to resist, and fear had permeated my body.

But now it's different.

Sofia's warm heart has healed that fear and pain, giving me confidence.

I'm not afraid of someone like him anymore!

"It seems you don't intend to surrender quietly."
Sigurd had a beast-like look in his eyes.

Ending it here was unthinkable; he absolutely refused to give up. He seemed to be thinking about something like that.

"Sofia will be here soon. Can't you just give up already? What were you thinking, doing something so foolish... Sigurd and the others can't go back to being adventurers. Just surrender quietly and atone for your sins."
"Sins...? Haha, do you think I, of all people, have sins? Don't make me laugh!!!"

Suddenly, Sigurd became furious.

"I am the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird'! A top-notch adventurer respected by everyone! Do you think someone like me has sins? It's impossible! Don't say ridiculous things! It's not my fault at all, everything, everything, everything is your fault! Because you opposed us, because you dared to stand against us, that's why!!!"

I had overcome the fear of Sigurd, but for a moment, I was still pressured. His emotions seemed so twisted.

To this extent...

Although dumbfounded, I quickly regained my composure and readied my sword.

Words won't stop him anymore. It's time for action.

And this time, I will settle the past.

"Do you think you can defeat me?"
"I don't care about intentions or anything like that. I will win. That's all."

"Damn it, you're still being insolent... Fine! I'll crush you to pieces right here!!"

Sigurd took out a small vial and gulped down a thick, viscous liquid.

"What's this...?"

"Grrr... Haha! This is a drug that multiplies my strength several times. My trump card. Well, I've never had the opportunity to use it before, since it clouds my judgment, but now's the perfect time...!!!"

Sigurd's muscles swelled, and his body grew about a size larger.

Veins protruded.

His eyes congested, turning red.

"Guh, Gaaaah... With this power, you're nothing!!!"

"Even if you defeat me using something like that, there's no way you can escape."

"Better than losing!!!"

Foaming at the mouth, he roared,

"Here we go... I'll crush youuuuu!!! Goooaaaah!!!"

"!?"

Another charge.

Very simple movements, devoid of any discernible skill.

However, the speed was incomparable to before.

It was as if I was facing Sofia again.

Sigurd, closing in at an astonishing speed, wielded his broken sword like a bludgeon, slamming it down.

"Guh!?"

Avoiding was difficult, so I used the sword as a makeshift shield to intercept.

A thud, and pressure enveloped my entire body.

It felt like being pressed down by a giant.

Not just speed, but the power had increased significantly.

"Ooooooh!!!"

Seemingly losing his sanity, his eyes no longer showed signs of reason.

He swung his fists wildly.

In a previous clash during a mock battle, while not reaching Sofia's level, he had shown some decent swordsmanship. But now, there was not a trace of skill.

He was just forcefully ramming his power into everything.

"But, this is... Ugh, quite tough."

It felt like dealing with a child throwing a tantrum. Sigurd swung his sword in erratic movements.

Using the other hand like a bludgeon, he struck.

While lacking in technique, the overwhelming power and speed made it challenging to handle.

"But!"

Due to the lack of skill, there were periodic openings.

Though a brief moment, there was an opportunity to counter.

Carefully discerning...

"Here!"

Drawing Sigurd's sword close at the last moment, I dodged and sliced through his thick side!

TL Note: Sigurd got a buff and to my knowledge James and Jessie did'nt got married inn the anime unless you are talking about the manga.

  1. Yeah, was referring to the manga. Tbh, I can't care less about the anime anymore since each time it feels like Ash gets a soft reset, where I wonder if it is the same guy I cheered for or someone else.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious

Chapter 2 childhood friend {TL: By Creed} That was ten years ago. I had a childhood friend who was the same age as me. Her name was Sofia Ascarth. Sofia and I played together every day, and we were so close that we were always together. Every day was so much fun... Filled with smiles. I believed that this happiness would last forever back then, but... Our parting came suddenly. ―――――――――― "I'm sorry... I can't meet Fate anymore." When I tried to play as usual, Sofia had a look on the verge of tears. Did she have a fight with her parents? When I asked what was going on, that was the answer. "Huh? W-what do you mean? You can't meet me anymore..." "Due to my dad's job, we're moving to the capital. So... today will be the last time I can play with Fate." "That's... " It felt like the ground beneath me crumbled and I was falling... Such a terrible shock. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...
