Chapter 154: The women's battle has already begun
{TL: By Creed}
Since they had something very important to do, Sofia and her group decided to part ways with Fate for a while.
“Make sure you absolutely don’t follow us, okay?” they emphasized as they left.
With determination, the women headed toward a certain store.
“Welcome!”
They were greeted with a warm smile from a female store clerk.
In the back of the shop lay the very items Sofia and her group were seeking.
Their target? Swimsuits.
If you’re going to play at the beach, swimsuits are a must.
However, they hadn’t given it much thought beforehand and were unprepared.
When bathing in rivers, they typically wore no clothes at all.
On the other hand, when catching fish, they kept their clothes on.
Under normal circumstances, that arrangement worked just fine.
But playing at the beach was a completely different story.
There was no way they could just dive into the sea in their regular clothes.
Buying cute swimsuits was absolutely essential.
For women, wearing swimsuits at the beach was a very important matter.
“Wow... Are these swimsuits?”
“Yes, that’s right. There are so many swimsuits, and they’re all so cute!”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Aisha’s tail wagged vigorously.
She seemed to be really excited.
“Hehe, I wonder if there’s a swimsuit that suits someone with a fabulous body like mine—Licorice! It’d have to be a swimsuit designed by a super-genius designer to match me, don’t you think?”
Licorice was also in high spirits, flitting around and imagining various possibilities with a mischievous grin.
When it comes to talking about fashion, it doesn’t matter if you’re a fairy, beastkin, or human—being female means getting excited about it.
“First of all, Licorice, the issue is your size. And Aisha, because of your tail... Let’s ask the clerk. Excuse me!”
“Yes, how can I help you?”
The clerk approached eagerly, as if waiting for them to ask. Her expression was beaming.
“We’re looking for swimsuits... Do you happen to have any for these two?”
“Oh my, a fairy and a beastkin... That’s rare. I never expected such unique customers!”
“Is it going to be difficult?”
“Not at all! Our store is proud to be the number one swimwear specialty shop on Blue Island. We’re confident we can satisfy every customer!”
With that, the clerk guided them to the back of the store.
The front of the shop held children’s swimsuits, the middle had adult sizes, and the back was reserved for special sizes.
“For our fairy customers, please choose from this section.”
“Wow, you even have a fairy-exclusive section? I mean, even I think this level of preparedness is a bit much...”
“We once had a fairy customer visit, but at the time, we didn’t have fairy-sized swimsuits, and we ended up disappointing them. Determined not to make the same mistake again, we made sure to stock up properly!”
“Still, there are over ten options. I thought I’d be lucky if there was even one... Hehe, maybe I’ll find a favorite. Great job—you deserve some praise!”
“Thank you very much!”
The clerk didn’t seem bothered by Licorice’s naturally condescending tone; in fact, she appeared deeply moved by the compliment.
Taking pride in her work, being acknowledged made her feel genuinely delighted.
“And here are the swimsuits for beastkin children.”
The swimsuits the clerk showed looked similar to human ones at first glance.
However, they had openings for tails to pass through.
This section also offered a variety, with about 30 designs available.
From simple styles to frilly, adorable ones, the selection was diverse.
“So, you stock beastkin swimsuits because, like with fairies, a customer visited before?”
“No, actually, we’ve never had a beastkin customer before. They’re such a rare species, after all.”
“Then why go to such lengths?”
“Even if they haven’t visited yet, there’s always the chance they might someday. That’s why our shop is committed to preparing for any customer, no matter who they might be.”
Amazing.
Sofia was genuinely impressed by the clerk’s professional dedication.
There probably aren’t many people who pour this much passion into their work.
One swimsuit would be enough, but...
Maybe I’ll buy two?
She couldn’t help but think that way.
“And you, dear customer, are...?”
“I’m just an ordinary human.”
“Understood. What kind of swimsuit are you looking for?”
Sofia glanced over at Aisha and Licorice.
Both were completely engrossed in choosing their swimsuits.
There were no strange customers around, and the clerk seemed reliable.
Judging that it would be fine to focus on her own swimsuit selection, Sofia continued her conversation with the clerk.
“It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but this is my first time buying a swimsuit at a specialty store... I’m not sure what would be good for me.”
“I see. In that case, may I assist you?”
“Please do.”
“Do you have any preferences? For example, do you like cute swimsuits, or perhaps something stylish? Even vague ideas are perfectly fine.”
“Well, let me think...”
Sofia pondered her criteria for choosing a swimsuit.
After a moment, she spoke up.
“...Something that would make a boy I like focus only on me—that kind of swimsuit.”
“I see, I see.”
The clerk’s smile softened and grew even warmer.
“Is your boyfriend older than you? Or younger?”
“We’re the same age, but he feels a bit younger. Still, when it matters, he’s very reliable... and he’s just so sweet and adorable.”
“What a wonderful boyfriend you have.”
The clerk smiled while selecting a few swimsuits.
“I’ve chosen a cute one, a bold one, and one that combines both styles. I’ve picked three to start—what do you think?”
“Th-this is...!?”
Sofia was stunned as she looked at the swimsuits the clerk had selected.
They were cute.
And bold.
Wearing one of these would definitely be embarrassing.
But...
She felt like it might let her monopolize Fate’s gaze and heart.
No, but isn’t this a bit too daring?
Wouldn’t it be safer to go for something more reserved and modest?
“Dear customer,”
The clerk, noticing Sofia’s hesitation, smiled brightly and spoke.
“Summer is a season that makes women bolder. It makes men bolder too—and it’s the perfect opportunity to close the distance between two hearts. So, what’s wrong with showing a little skin for such a cause? Absolutely nothing! You should use your feminine charms to capture your boyfriend’s heart and take your relationship to the next level. With this swimsuit, your summer together will become even more special.”
“I’ll take it!”
And so, Sofia was completely swept away by the clerk’s persuasive words.
