My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 156: The Shining Sea

{TL: By Creed}

When I looked up at the sky, the sun was shining brightly.

The scorching sunlight was intense, and just standing still made sweat stream down my face.

“Perfect weather for a day at the beach, huh?”

It seemed like many others had the same idea, as the beach was already crowded with people. Sheets were spread out here and there, and parasols had been set up.

I set up my own sheet and parasol, placing my belongings on top. Bathing in the sunlight, I waited for the three of them.

As a guy, it was easy for me to change quickly, but…
Since Sofia and the others were women, it wouldn’t be as simple.
The changing rooms also seemed to be crowded, so it would probably take a little time.

“…Hmm.”

I felt restless.
My mind kept wandering.

Before long, Sofia and the others would return, having changed into their swimsuits…

What kind of swimsuits would they be wearing?
I wondered if it was appropriate to think about such things, but…
Well, I am a guy.
I couldn’t help but imagine.

“Sorry for the wait.”

When I turned around…

“Ah…”
“H-how do I look…?”

Sofia had chosen a white bikini.
Was it called a flared bikini?

It had an elegant vibe, but the frills seemed to accentuate her chest.
A curious blend of modesty and allure gave it a contradictory charm.

She must have the kind of figure that looks slimmer in clothes, because seeing her like this in a swimsuit… let’s just say, it was impressive in various ways.
Her normally hidden skin, so smooth and white it seemed to shine like porcelain, was now on full display.

“…”

“Uh… Fate?”
“…”
“Does it… not suit me?”
“Huh!?”

That was bad.
I’d been so captivated that I forgot to speak.

“N-no, it’s not that at all! It suits you amazingly!”
“Really?”
“Yeah. It suits you so perfectly that I couldn’t even find the words. I couldn’t stop thinking about you… You’re so cute. So beautiful.”
“Th-thank you.”

Sofia blushed deeply, looking shy.
That bashful reaction was also incredibly charming…
My eyes were almost drawn to her chest again, but I restrained myself.

“How about me, Papa? How do I look?”

Aisha was wearing a one-piece swimsuit.
It was a soft, pale green with large frills, making it adorably cute.

It even seemed to have a tail hole, so it didn’t look uncomfortable.
Her tail was swishing restlessly, likely because she was curious about my reaction.

“You look absolutely adorable, Aisha.”
“Really?”
“Of course. I just want to hug you tight.”
“Ehehe.”

Aisha hugged her tail close to her chest, blushing happily.

What is this? Could she be an angel?

“Well then, time for the grand finale!”

With an energetic entrance, Licorice appeared wearing a swimsuit paired with a sarong.

Though her usual personality—or rather, her over-the-top energy—was still there…
In this moment, she seemed to shine.

Bright, cheerful…
And yet, exuding a distinctly feminine charm. It felt like I was discovering a new side to Licorice.

“Licorice, you look great too.”

“Right? When the Hyper Ultra Miracle Magical Lovely Fairy Licorice shows up in a swimsuit, there’s not a guy alive who won’t be smitten! All the men of the world will bow before me! Wahahaha!”

The swimsuit really did suit her, but…
Her personality was still the same old Licorice.

“Um… Fate, you look really cool too.”

“H-huh? You think so?”

“Yes. You’re… well, how do I put this… You look so toned, and graceful, and… it’s almost overwhelming how cool you look.”

“Overwhelming?”

“It’s just… this is the first time I’ve seen you in a swimsuit, and… it’s making my face heat up all on its own.”

Sofia’s cheeks turned a deep red as she spoke.
Despite appearing so mature, Sofia had these innocent, bashful moments.
Then again, I might be the same way.

“A-anyway, let’s enjoy the beach today.”

“Yes, let’s.”
“Exciting!”
“I’m going to play until I drop!”

Our smiles shone as brightly as the sun overhead.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 2 childhood friend {TL: By Creed} That was ten years ago. I had a childhood friend who was the same age as me. Her name was Sofia Ascarth. Sofia and I played together every day, and we were so close that we were always together. Every day was so much fun... Filled with smiles. I believed that this happiness would last forever back then, but... Our parting came suddenly. ―――――――――― "I'm sorry... I can't meet Fate anymore." When I tried to play as usual, Sofia had a look on the verge of tears. Did she have a fight with her parents? When I asked what was going on, that was the answer. "Huh? W-what do you mean? You can't meet me anymore..." "Due to my dad's job, we're moving to the capital. So... today will be the last time I can play with Fate." "That's... " It felt like the ground beneath me crumbled and I was falling... Such a terrible shock. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry......
