My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 273: I can't get angry

{TL: By Creed}

Aisha and Snow had disappeared.

According to what I was told, the two of them had been waiting in an empty house, but… in the brief moment no one was watching, they vanished.

Did they move on their own?
Or were they kidnapped by someone?

Could it be the latter?
I don’t want to consider that possibility, but after what happened with Lena, I can’t help becoming suspicious.

Just as I was panicking…

“We’ve found the Princess and the Divine Beast!”

Good news arrived before long. That was quick—almost too quick.

“Where are they?”

“Well, the thing is…”

The beastman who came to report looked terribly troubled.

――――――――――

“Suu… suu, suu…”

“Supi… supi…”

At the edge of the village stood a large tree.

Beneath its shade, Aisha and Snow were curled up together, napping as if in an embrace.

Sunlight filtered gently through the gaps in the leaves.

A soft breeze drifted by.

Bathed in that comfort, the two of them wore blissful expressions.

“It looks like they went for a walk and then just fell asleep here.”

With a weary sigh, Sofia let out her breath.

But she wasn’t angry.

It was the same look a mother might give her child—one who’d gotten messy while playing but could only be met with a fond, helpless smile…

Her expression was nothing but gentle.

“What should we do?”

“Let’s let them sleep a little longer. It would feel cruel to wake them.”

“You’re right.”

Sitting down beside the happily napping Aisha and Snow, Sofia and I also spent a peaceful moment together.

――――――――――

After That

About an hour later, Aisha and Snow finally woke up.

With the two of them in tow, we returned to the village chief’s house.
There, we began discussing what to do next.

“Aisha, Snow. I’d like to ask for your help in creating a barrier here. Would you be willing?”

“Me…? Can I even do something like that?”

“Yes, you can.”

“…”

Aisha looked uneasy.

And that was only natural.
Sure, we’d already confirmed that she possessed an immense amount of magic power, but she had never once created a barrier before.
When someone asks you to do something you’ve never done, it would make anyone anxious.

“It’s all right.”

It was Licorice who spoke with absolute confidence.

“I have a fair bit of knowledge and experience in constructing barriers. With me around, success is guaranteed!”

“Licorice, you can really do anything, huh?”

“Fufun, you may even call me the All-Powerful, Invincible Fairy Licorice-chan, if you like.”

…Though that’s a bit of a mouthful.

“Can the barrier be constructed right away?”

“Hmm… no, we’ll need some preparations and light practice. I’d say we need about three days.”

“Three days…”

Sofia frowned at that.
After all, Lena had just attacked not too long ago.
Holding out for three whole days might prove difficult.

Still, once the barrier was up, the village would be much safer.
It wouldn’t be absolute protection, but… it would be far better than now.

So then, what should we do to make that possible?

“Hmm…”

Everyone thought about it together…
and then, I came up with a little idea.

“How about this?”

TL Note: What?

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 3 Escape from the current situation and reunion {TL By: Creed} "What's going on, you incompetent fool!!!" "Guah!?" Sigurd's angry voice was hurled at me, and then I was struck again. I was thrown to the floor. This place was an inn and dining hall, so there were other customers present. However, Sigurd had a notorious reputation as a rough adventurer, and nobody wanted to get involved. Naturally, they pretended not to notice me. However... Being a slave, even if someone with good intentions were to stand up for me, they couldn't help me. How slaves were treated was entirely up to their master. There were no human rights. "You dropped the loot we worked so hard to get, didn't you? Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing? How much do you think today's earnings have decreased because of you?" "I'm sorry... Ugh!?" I was kicked hard in the abdomen. It was a powerful blow that lifted me off the ground. It hurt. I cu...
