My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 311: Shadow of the Dawn Alliance

{TL: By Creed}

On one corner of the industrial district, there was a safe house owned by Guld.

From the outside, it looked like nothing more than a warehouse.
However, the inside had apparently been remodeled so that one could live there comfortably.

“That’s the safe house of Guld that I know of, but…”

“It might be the right place.”

There were several people outside the warehouse.
All of them were armed and keeping watch over the surroundings.

That wasn’t all.
From inside the warehouse, there were signs of many more people.

With this much trouble going on, and with so many people gathered at a safe house like this, there was almost no doubt that Guld was inside.

“Finding the location is one thing, but… the problem is our fighting strength.”

It was just Albert and me.

If we played our cards right, the two of us might be able to manage somehow.
But…

“If there’s a magic sword user among the enemies… that could be bad.”

What if the Alliance of Dawn was cooperating with Guld?

Even if they weren’t, judging from this unpleasant presence, it was certain that the enemy possessed a magic sword.
It was an extremely powerful weapon, and whether the two of us alone could handle it… at this point, it would be a gamble.

“Are magic swords really that troublesome?”

On the way here, I had given him a brief explanation about magic swords, but he still didn’t seem to quite grasp it.

“They’re incredibly troublesome. Let’s see…”

I thought for a moment before continuing.

“They can cut through iron like butter, and on top of that, they enhance physical abilities.”

“That’s… something else.”

“And that’s just a low-ranked magic sword. If the enemy has a high-level one…”

“Then in the worst case, they’d have power comparable to the Sword Saint.”

“Yes.”

Under normal circumstances, the best course of action would be for one person to stay behind and observe, while the other went to bring reinforcements.

That would be the safest option.

However, the longer we took, the more the damage would spread…
And with all this chaos, there was no guarantee we could even bring reinforcements back successfully.

“…”

Albert stared at the warehouse, his mind clearly working.

Personally, I was in favor of charging in.
But I couldn’t lightly drag Albert into danger, so in the end, I decided to follow his judgment.

“…Alright.”

After a short pause, Albert nodded slightly.

“I’ll be causing you trouble, but… I think we should move in immediately.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. I understand the risks. There are many issues, but… I want to bring this situation under control as quickly as possible. I’ve decided to do whatever I can to make that happen.”

“Understood. I’ll do everything I can as well.”

“Thank you… no, I’m sorry.”

It seemed Albert felt bad about dragging me into danger, too.
He lowered his head apologetically.

But…

“Please don’t apologize.”

“But—”

“I’d rather hear a different word.”

“That is… ah, I see.”

Realizing what I meant, Albert gave a wry smile.

“You really are a good man. As a fellow man, I can’t help but feel a little jealous of how cool you are.”

“T-that’s not—”

“You don’t have to be embarrassed. And… thank you.”

“Yes.”

At first, I had felt some jealousy toward Albert…
But now, I found myself feeling a sense of fondness for him.

We stood in different positions, but maybe—just maybe—we could become friends.

That was what I thought.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 3 Escape from the current situation and reunion {TL By: Creed} "What's going on, you incompetent fool!!!" "Guah!?" Sigurd's angry voice was hurled at me, and then I was struck again. I was thrown to the floor. This place was an inn and dining hall, so there were other customers present. However, Sigurd had a notorious reputation as a rough adventurer, and nobody wanted to get involved. Naturally, they pretended not to notice me. However... Being a slave, even if someone with good intentions were to stand up for me, they couldn't help me. How slaves were treated was entirely up to their master. There were no human rights. "You dropped the loot we worked so hard to get, didn't you? Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing? How much do you think today's earnings have decreased because of you?" "I'm sorry... Ugh!?" I was kicked hard in the abdomen. It was a powerful blow that lifted me off the ground. It hurt. I cu...
