My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 313: The Lord Who Fell into Darkness

{TL: By Creed}

He looked to be around fifty.

A solid, bear-like build.
His long beard was carefully groomed.

“Bold” fit him perfectly as a description, and yet—his face was handsome.
A high nose, soft facial contours.
That face felt familiar, and it looked very much like Albert’s.

Which meant… could it be—

“…Father…”

Albert muttered the word with a bitter expression.

So it really was him—
Albert’s father.
The lord of Renogreid, Guld Hildis.

“It seems my foolish son is here as well. What are you doing there?”

“Can’t you tell just by looking?”

“I merely wished to confirm it. Foolish as you may be, you are still my blood. I thought I’d at least grant you a chance to explain yourself.”

“There’s nothing to explain.”

“I see. Then…”

A wave of killing intent suddenly swelled.

“Die.”

For an instant, it felt as though Guld’s body had grown several times larger.
Releasing an overwhelming pressure that made such an illusion possible, he charged straight at us.

Fast.
And heavy.

A charge that looked as though it would mow down everything in its path.

Albert must have thought there was room for some negotiation—caught off guard, he froze in place.
I hurriedly stepped in front of him and raised the Meteor Sword.

“Guh!”

Giiin!!!

Our blades clashed.

I managed to block it somehow—but it was heavy.
It felt as if a lump of iron had been slammed into me.

This wasn’t just the power of the magic sword.
Guld’s raw combat ability was simply that high.

“W-what…!?”

Albert was stunned by the sudden outbreak of battle.
But there was no time to be surprised.

“Draw your sword!”

“No, but—”

“There’s no talking this out. You can tell, can’t you!?”

“…You’re right. Sorry.”

Albert quickly steadied himself and slashed at Guld from the side.
A fast blade.
And precise strikes.

…Which was exactly why it was easy to read.

“You’re naïve.”

“Gah!?”

Without breaking his blade lock with me, Guld lashed out with a kick.
A perfect counter—Albert was sent flying.

“Damn!”

I wanted to rush to help, but I was still locked in a clash with Guld.
If I shifted my attention even a little, I’d be finished in an instant.

“That sword of yours…”

“Hm?”

“Where did you obtain that sword?”

“Oh? Those eyes, that tone—you know about magic swords.”

“It’s an extremely dangerous weapon. Once you wield it, your mind will be corrupted! Let go of it at once—”

“I know.”

Guld grinned, tightening his grip on the magic sword.

“You know, and yet—!?”

“And besides… it’s already too late.”

TL Note: Enemy.

My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 3 Escape from the current situation and reunion {TL By: Creed} "What's going on, you incompetent fool!!!" "Guah!?" Sigurd's angry voice was hurled at me, and then I was struck again. I was thrown to the floor. This place was an inn and dining hall, so there were other customers present. However, Sigurd had a notorious reputation as a rough adventurer, and nobody wanted to get involved. Naturally, they pretended not to notice me. However... Being a slave, even if someone with good intentions were to stand up for me, they couldn't help me. How slaves were treated was entirely up to their master. There were no human rights. "You dropped the loot we worked so hard to get, didn't you? Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing? How much do you think today's earnings have decreased because of you?" "I'm sorry... Ugh!?" I was kicked hard in the abdomen. It was a powerful blow that lifted me off the ground. It hurt. I cu...
