My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 324 Royal Capital

{TL: By Creed}

When we passed through the gate, the first thing I saw was a large road stretching straight ahead.

It was wide enough for about ten carriages to run side by side…
And in reality, countless carriages were coming and going.

On both sides of it, there were buildings as numerous as the stars.
They continued endlessly, to the point of hiding the horizon.

At the far end of the great road, I could see a castle.
Even though it should have been quite far away, its size and splendor still came across—it was built on a truly grand scale.

"Wow… so this is the royal capital."

Sitting beside Sofia, who was handling the horse, I looked around.
I was acting like a complete country bumpkin, but it couldn’t be helped, right?

"Wow!"

"On!"

Aisha and Snow leaned out of the window, their faces sparkling with excitement.
Seeing their tails wagging wildly, they were clearly thrilled.

"Huh…"

Licorice, sitting on my shoulder, was also gazing at the royal capital with interest.

However, Sofia was the same as always.
Watching us get excited, she wore an amused smile.

"You’re not surprised, Sofia?"

"I’ve come here a few times because of my parents’ work. But when I first came, I reacted just like you all did, Fate."

Knowing that Sofia had been the same somehow made me feel relieved.

"...Somewhere in this vast royal capital, the Alliance of Dawn is hiding."

We weren’t here for sightseeing.
We had to stop them somehow.

Naturally, my expression tightened.

"Fate, I understand how you feel, but you mustn’t rush."

"But…"

"Rushing narrows your thinking. What we need to do first is to properly establish a base for our activities here in the royal capital."

"...Yeah, you’re right. Thanks, Sofia."

Thanks to her, I was able to calm down a little.

About the Alliance of Dawn.
About Rena.

There were things on my mind, but panicking wouldn’t help.

For now, just as Sofia said, we needed to prepare properly.

"Alright then, let’s start by finding an inn. Sofia, do you happen to know a good place?"

"Um… I’m sorry. I’ve been here a few times, but I’ve never used an inn when I visited…"

"I see, that makes sense. You’d be staying at a lord’s mansion or a noble’s residence."

In that case, we’d have to start by gathering information about inns.

We would probably be staying in the royal capital for quite a while.
It would be best to find a place where we could properly rest and recover, and that was reasonably priced.

Also, since we would almost certainly end up clashing with the Alliance of Dawn, it would be good if the place had solid security.

"If it’s information gathering, it might be best to use the Adventurers’ Guild in the royal capital. They don’t just handle job requests—they also deal in information trading."

"Yeah, good idea."

"I’ll look for a place that can take care of the carriage, so could I leave that to you?"

"Got it."

"Then I’ll stay here."

Licorice returned to the carriage.
She was probably too lazy to help look for an inn.

"Alright, see you later."

After deciding on a meeting place and time, I parted ways with Sofia and the others.

Before long, I arrived at the Adventurers’ Guild.
As expected of the royal capital, the guild building was huge—almost like a noble’s mansion.

Feeling a bit nervous, I stepped inside…

"Huh!?"

"Oh?"

We ran into familiar faces, and both of us exclaimed in surprise.

TL Note- Friend or foe?

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 3 Escape from the current situation and reunion {TL By: Creed} "What's going on, you incompetent fool!!!" "Guah!?" Sigurd's angry voice was hurled at me, and then I was struck again. I was thrown to the floor. This place was an inn and dining hall, so there were other customers present. However, Sigurd had a notorious reputation as a rough adventurer, and nobody wanted to get involved. Naturally, they pretended not to notice me. However... Being a slave, even if someone with good intentions were to stand up for me, they couldn't help me. How slaves were treated was entirely up to their master. There were no human rights. "You dropped the loot we worked so hard to get, didn't you? Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing? How much do you think today's earnings have decreased because of you?" "I'm sorry... Ugh!?" I was kicked hard in the abdomen. It was a powerful blow that lifted me off the ground. It hurt. I cu...
