Chapter 160: Unexpected Reunion

{TL: By Creed}

"How's it going, Fate?"

"Yeah, that's it. As expected of Sofia, you're almost swimming on your own now."

After about an hour of practicing swimming with Aisha, Sofia had almost completely learned to swim on her own.

It seemed she simply never had the chance to swim before because she was so focused on swordsmanship. Once she got the hang of it, it didn’t take long.

"Hehe, swimming is fun!"

"That's rich, considering you were sulking just a while ago."

"Swimming is all about winning!"

"Haha."

It was great to see her looking so cheerful again.

"Mom, will you swim with me?"

"Of course, let’s swim together."

"I'll supervise!"

The women seemed to be having a great time.

However, since they'd been practicing for so long, they were probably starting to get tired.

"I'll go get some drinks. What would you all like?"

"Thank you. I'll have iced tea, please."

"Juice for me…"

"Honey lemon juice for me!"

"Got it."

I left the water and headed toward the concession stand.

What should I get for myself? Sweet juice would be fine, but like Sofia, I felt like having some cold tea to refresh myself.

As I walked along, pondering what to choose...

"Hey, come on, it'll be fun."

"Yeah, it’s better than playing by yourself. Hang out with us."

"I said no, okay? Leave me alone!"

I came across two guys trying to hit on someone.

The woman’s face was hidden behind the men, but from her voice, she sounded very annoyed.

I couldn’t just let this slide.

"Excuse me, but—"

"Huh?"

"She’s here with me... to hang out, and—"

"Ah! Fate! Hi there!"

The woman being hit on turned out to be Lena.

This unexpected development left me completely stunned, my mind going blank. My body froze up, too.

"Tch, so she’s with a guy? Let’s go."

The guys gave up quickly and disappeared somewhere else.

But honestly… I kind of wish they’d stuck around, even if it meant dealing with them. Now I was alone with Lena.

"It hasn’t been that long, has it? But still, I’m so happy to see you again!"

"Uh… yeah, it’s been a while."

Lena was smiling brightly, her carefree demeanor making it hard to believe we were supposed to be enemies.

She was wearing a rather bold swimsuit. It was… let’s just say it looked like it might reveal more than it should—or rather, like something might slip out.

Her swimsuit really matched her personality.

Wearing something like that, it was no surprise she got hit on.

"Hey, hey, hey, don’t you think meeting here like this is fate? It’s destiny, right? Yep, Fate, you’re officially my boyfriend now."

"Wait, what!? How did you come to that conclusion?"

"Don’t you feel like this is destiny?"

"Not really… Besides, wasn’t this all part of your plan?"

It felt a bit too convenient to call this a chance encounter.

Lena wasn’t just an energetic girl with a cheerful personality. She possessed incredible power and could easily manipulate things behind the scenes to orchestrate a seemingly coincidental reunion.

When I gave her a suspicious glare, Lena frantically waved her hands to deny it.

"No, no, no, it’s really a coincidence, okay? I did want to meet Fate again, but there were things I had to do first. I’m actually in a somewhat higher position, but even so, I can’t just do whatever I want without setting an example for those around me. Being at the top comes with its own set of problems, you know."

"Huh…"

"So, this whole situation really was unexpected. I didn’t plan any of this, okay?"

Lena stared at me, as if trying to convey that I should believe her.

Her eyes were so pure…

I suddenly had a question.

She’s probably being honest with herself, both in a good and bad way. She does what she wants to do.

If I could change her values…

Maybe, just maybe, I could get Lena to leave the Dawn Alliance?

She’s done a lot of things, but… I just can’t bring myself to hate her.

"Hey, hey, Fate. How do you like my swimsuit? Cute? Sexy? Does it make you want to touch me?"

"I think it looks good on you, but…"

"Hehe, thanks!"

"U-um… you're welcome?"

"Alright then, let’s go!"

She suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me.

"Wait, where to?"

"To the inn."

"Why?"

"As a celebration for our reunion, how about we do something naughty?"

Gasp!

She casually said something outrageous, and I ended up choking on my breath.

"I’m not doing that!"

"You don’t want to do something naughty? You’re not interested?"

"It’s not that I’m not interested, but… still, those kinds of things shouldn’t be taken so lightly…"

"I won’t take it lightly. It’s because I like you, Fate, that I want to do it."

"Uh…"

"Not interested?"

Just then, Lena leaned in closer to my face…

"…What are you two doing?"

Suddenly, Sofia’s voice echoed.

TL Note; Now let's roll the die of death.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 2 childhood friend {TL: By Creed} That was ten years ago. I had a childhood friend who was the same age as me. Her name was Sofia Ascarth. Sofia and I played together every day, and we were so close that we were always together. Every day was so much fun... Filled with smiles. I believed that this happiness would last forever back then, but... Our parting came suddenly. ―――――――――― "I'm sorry... I can't meet Fate anymore." When I tried to play as usual, Sofia had a look on the verge of tears. Did she have a fight with her parents? When I asked what was going on, that was the answer. "Huh? W-what do you mean? You can't meet me anymore..." "Due to my dad's job, we're moving to the capital. So... today will be the last time I can play with Fate." "That's... " It felt like the ground beneath me crumbled and I was falling... Such a terrible shock. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry......
