My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman

Chapter 291: The End of the Tradition

{TL: By Creed}

“Haa… haa… haa…”

The Water God panted heavily, his gaze darting around in search of his enemy.

He gathered the surrounding water and compressed it—then unleashed it all at once.
It was his ultimate technique, one that could crush rock and iron as if they were paper.

Because it consumed an enormous amount of stamina, he couldn’t fire it repeatedly.
But if a human were to take a direct hit, not even a fragment of them would remain.

“…Did I defeat him?”

The Water God exhaled in relief.

He had looked down on humans, but this one had been a terrifyingly strong opponent.

He had wielded a strange sword, fought alongside a fairy,
and possessed unbelievable physical strength.

If things had gone even slightly differently, it might have been him who lost.
It was a victory by the narrowest of margins.

“How disgraceful…”

To think he had nearly been defeated by a mere human—
the very thought wounded the Water God’s pride.

Irritated, he clicked his tongue…
but soon enough, a feeling of delight welled up within him.

“Disgraceful or not… now, there is no one left to stand in my way.”

It was feeding time.
He would once again demand a sacrifice from the townspeople.

He had driven them to the edge—
if he demanded again and again, surely someone desperate would offer up a victim.

Then, he would once more savor human flesh.
He could continue to enjoy his meals regularly from now on.

“Hahaha!”

Laughter burst out of him uncontrollably.
The Water God’s mood reached its peak—

Zash!

“…Huh?”

—and then plummeted to the absolute bottom.

Using Licorice’s magic, we created an illusion—
one that made the Water God believe he had defeated us.

While he was distracted, we used wind platforms to ascend higher,
then dove down all at once, driving every ounce of strength into a strike aimed at his head.

“…Huh?”

Completely off guard, the Water God let out a foolish-sounding grunt.

The Meteor Sword pierced straight into his head.
His defense was strong, so the blade didn’t go all the way through—

—but that was fine.

“With this…”

“Y-you!? You should have been dead…!”

“It’s over!!!”

“Gah!?”

I forced the sword in with all my might.
The Meteor Sword buried itself to the hilt, and the Water God convulsed violently.

But… it wasn’t over yet!!!

“Mountain Break!!!”

I gripped the sword in reverse and unleashed the technique while the blade was still buried.

Gogaaah!!!

A sound like shattering rock echoed—
and the Water God’s head was blown clean off.

His enormous body lost all strength and collapsed slowly.
I pulled the sword free and—

“All right!”

—raised a lone cry of victory.

TL Note: The monster was slain.

My childhood friend, who I promised to marry in the future, came back as a swordsman.

Chapter 1: The reality that I longed for is harsh and painful {TL: By Creed} "Hey, don't stroll around leisurely, you Useless man!" Insults were flying, and the target was me. "I-I'm... sorry..." My reply came out in gasps, as it should. After all, I was carrying a load that was tens of kilos heavier than my own body. In such a state, I had been walking through the dungeon for hours without a break. It was non-stop. It was only natural that I was out of breath, my clothes drenched in sweat, as if I had been doused in water. I wondered if I was experiencing dehydration; my legs were wobbly, and I felt like I might collapse if I let my guard down. "Hurry up, you slacker! You're practically useless except for carrying stuff," Sigurd, the leader of the A-rank party 'Flarebird,' berated me. He held the title of 'Swordmaster' and was the party's main attacker, constantly in action. "Sigurd, you're such a brute. Fate is so...

Chapter 4 Party formation {TL: By Creed} After that, we changed locations and moved to a different inn and restaurant. Since Sigurd and the others stayed behind, I'm not sure what happened to them, but... It seems like Sigurd took an incredibly powerful blow, so he probably won't wake up for a while. "Sister, I'll have orange juice and a parfait." "..." "What about Fate?" "..." "Fate, what's wrong?" "Huh!?" When asked the question, I snapped back to reality. "Oh, um, yeah. Sorry... um, I'll have coffee, please." "Okay. Orange juice and coffee. And a parfait, right? Please wait a moment." The waitress nodded and left. Alone again, I looked at Sofia once more. "It's been a while, Fate." "...Is it really you, Sofia?" "Yes, it's me. Or does Fate see someone else when Fate looks at me?" "No, it's not like that. I would never mistake my precious...

Chapter 3 Escape from the current situation and reunion {TL By: Creed} "What's going on, you incompetent fool!!!" "Guah!?" Sigurd's angry voice was hurled at me, and then I was struck again. I was thrown to the floor. This place was an inn and dining hall, so there were other customers present. However, Sigurd had a notorious reputation as a rough adventurer, and nobody wanted to get involved. Naturally, they pretended not to notice me. However... Being a slave, even if someone with good intentions were to stand up for me, they couldn't help me. How slaves were treated was entirely up to their master. There were no human rights. "You dropped the loot we worked so hard to get, didn't you? Hey, hey, hey! What the hell are you doing? How much do you think today's earnings have decreased because of you?" "I'm sorry... Ugh!?" I was kicked hard in the abdomen. It was a powerful blow that lifted me off the ground. It hurt. I cu...
